With the league stages nearing its end, it is going to be a stiff competition for a place in the playoffs. As of now, no team has cemented their berth and every game from now is of utmost importance. Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings will clash to solidify their place in the points table. A loss for either of the team will get their campaign into jeopardy. Karachi Kings were one of the favourites to win the title but they never took off. They just managed to win three out of their eight games. Even if they manage to win both their remaining matches, a place in the playoffs is not certain and they would need other results to go into their favour. On paper, Karachi boasts a strong side with players like Babar Azam, Sharjeel Khan, Martin Guptill, Najibullah Zadran, and Imad Wasim. However, apart from Babar Azam, others have been a big letdown. In the bowling department, none of the bowlers has been able to make any sort of impact.
Back to back defeats to Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators have derailed Lahore Qalandars’ campaign. The recent dip in the form can be attributed to some poor and reckless performances with the bat. However, when you look at their team on paper, they are a side that can give any team a run for their money. Fakhar Zaman, Sohail AKhtar, Mohammad Hafeez, Ben Dunk, Tim David form a strong batting lineup while the likes of Rashid Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, James Faulkner comprise a lethal attack.
Pitch Report
The underlying nature of the wicket is slow thus it’s not ideal for strokeplay. However, once set, the batsmen should be able to break free.
