After losing their opening fixtures, both Karachi Kings as well as Quetta Gladiators would want to get their first of this edition of the PSL. Besides, neither of the two teams would want to lose two back-to-back games. Thus, the second game on Saturday promises to be a cracker of a contest.
Although the Gladiators did lose to Peshawar Zalmi on Friday, it was a close contest and they did look decent in their effort. After being asked to bat, they scored 190-4 in the first innings on the back of their openers, Ahsan Ali and Will Smeed, who were absolutely sensational as both of them got to their respective half-centuries.
However, it was the Gladiators' bowling that let the team down. Skipper Sarfraz used as many as seven bowlers but to no avail. When it comes to the Kings, they lost their opening game to Multan Sultans in a rather one-sided fashion.
The intent of their batters was questionable as barring Sharjeel Khan, nobody else was able to bat at a strike rate above 120. Their bowling looked bleak as well. Thus, one can expect their captain Babar Azam to make some changes in the XI for their game against the Sarfraz-led side.
Pitch Report:
Although the average score in Karachi is 167, there have been both high-scoring and low-scoring encounters so far in the tournament. The ball is expected to do a bit in the initial overs. However, batting does get easier towards the second innings under lights.
