In a recent piece of update, the Indian selectors have announced the squad for the three-match ODI series against South Africa. Although, on the hand, the T20I side is also gearing up its preparations for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup 2022. The renowned names who are currently in action during the T20I series against the Proteas, will not be seen in the ODI squad.
The management has appointed the senior batter Shikhar Dhawan as the captain of the ODI team having Shreyas Iyer in the role of his deputy. Interestingly, there are also names who have received their first call to international cricket.
Apart from there was also a youngster who missed to make a cut to the squad and he is none other than Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw.
The men in blue will face the proteas in the three-match ODI series just after the completion of the ongoing three-match T20I series. The team will consist of some young names who are in excellent form. This list includes the likes of Rajat Patidar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Rahul Tripathi, and Mukesh Kumar, and a few other youngsters.
Although, Prithivi Shaw failed once again to secure his berth in the national squad of India for an international assignment.
Following the announcement of the squad, the young batter came up with a cryptic Instagram story. Indian cricket fans went on to assume that he is pointing out the Indian cricket Board and the selectors with this particular story. But Shaw didn’t mention any name in his story.
“Don’t trust their words, trust their actions, because actions will prove why words are meaningless,” reads the story posted by the 22-year-old.

India’s A team was recently in action against New Zealand where both teams locked horns in the series of three unofficial Tests and three-match ODI series. Priyank Panchal was appointed as the skipper of the Test team whereas Sanju Samson was leading the ODI side of India A. Shaw got a chance in the ODI squad and he scored 94 runs in two of the three unofficial One Day matches.
