'Playoffs se pehele full form mein hai' -Fans react as Guyana Amazon Warriors trump Trinbago Knight Riders by 6 wickets in CPL 2023

The 28th match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) took place between Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) and Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR). GAW won the toss and opted to bowl first. TKR did not get off to the best of starts as Martin Guptill was run out by Junior Sinclair for just 1 off 3 balls. Mark Deyal, however, cracked a quickfire 37 off 20 balls with eight fours.

He was caught by Azam Khan off Keemo Paul. Chadwick Walton came in at number three and tried to get things going but he was cleaned up by Imran Tahir after he made 25 off 27 balls with two fours. The other TKR batters were a no-show as they fell like a pack of cards. Keacy Carty was the only one who put up a fight and scored 83 off 49 balls with seven fours and four sixes.

Shai Hope hit an unbeaten 54 off 37 balls for Guyana Amazon Warriors

This helped TKR get to 176-8 in their 20 overs. For GAW, Tahir was the pick of the bowlers as he took 3-12 in his spell of four overs. Paul, Romario Shepherd and Dwaine Pretorious took a wicket each in their respective spells. In the run chase, GAW made very easy work of the target as Saim Ayub and Odean Smith got off to a fast start.

Ayub made 37 off 24 balls with five fours and two sixes. Odean Smith smashed 44 off 32 balls with four fours and three sixes.  The Pakistan batter was caught by Samit Patel off Akeal Hosein. Smith was caught by Hosein off Terrance Hinds. The run-scoring continued as Shai Hope hit an unbeaten 54 off 37 balls with two fours and three sixes.

Hope had some support from Azam Khan who hit 12 off 5 balls with one four and one six. Pretorious stayed unbeaten and made 11 off 10 balls. GAW won by 6 wickets and had ten balls to spare. GAW have their next match against Barbados Royals but they have already qualified for the CPL playoffs. TKR have also got themselves in. The next game for them is the qualifier against GAW.
