The Indian bowlers took Australia's last five wickets for just 28 runs in the morning session on Day 4. The target was just 75 and without too many hiccups, the batter did their job to script history. Electing to bat first, the visitors scored 219 and were restricted to 261 in the second innings in response to India's first-innings score of 406.

Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana's 90-run opening partnership, Richa Ghosh and Jemimah Rodrigues's contribution in the middle-order, followed by Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar's effective knock in the lower order gave India a 187-run lead. Australia were in command when Tahlia McGrath and captain Alyssa Healy were at the crease on Day 3.

However, their 66-run partnership was broken by Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur. She got rid of McGrath first and went on to dismiss Healy a few overs before the stumps. This put Australia in the back seat as Annabel Sutherland and Ashleigh Gardner had to start from scratch on Day 4.

The equation was simple for the Indian bowlers and they did it impressively. Sneh Rana and Rajeshwari Gayakwad grabbed two wickets each, while Pooja Vastrakar took one to wrap up the Australian innings quickly. Chasing 75, Verma had to depart in the very first over despite opening her account with a boundary. Richa Ghosh also didn't look comfortable at the crease but Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues took them over the line in 18.4 overs.
