In a relieving piece of news for wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, the selectors have included him in the squad for the five-match T20I series against West Indies. He will replace the senior wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul in the playing XI. Earlier, the selectors picked Rahul for the team but his availability was subjected to the fitness test.
The men in blue will lock horns with the Caribbean team in the five-match T20I series. Both teams are all set to play the first fixture of the series today i.e., on July 29 (Friday). Trinidad will host the opening encounter of the second leg of the white-ball series between India and the West Indies.

The inclusion of Sanju Samson comes up with a minor change in the squad
Coming back to KL Rahul, he went to Germany for the surgery of his sports hernia just before the commencement of the five-match T20I series between India and South Africa last month in June. Later on, he came back to India to recover after surgery.
Rahul started his practice as a part of his recovery process but he ended up testing positive for the Covid-19 virus. So, he couldn’t make the comeback to the team for the upcoming five-match T20I series.
The sources close to BCCI staff have learned that it might take one more week for the 30-year-old to recover from the current situation.
The revised squad of the Indian team for the T20I series against West Indies (2022): Rohit Sharma (Captain), Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav*, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, and Arshdeep Singh.

Sanju made his debut in 2015 in T20I's and only played 13 matches in all these 7 yrs . And people say he didn't use his chances playing for India .Some players need backing. We saw how Rohit,Pant were backed even after a horrible start in white ball format.
