Pakistan is now on a brink of an early exit from the 20-20 World Cup 2022 following their crushing defeat against the minnows like Zimbabwe by a margin of just one run. Notably, it was the second consecutive defeat for the men in green in the ongoing edition of the 20-20 World Cup. The star opening pair of skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan failed drastically in both matches against India and Zimbabwe respectively.
This performance from Babar’s men didn’t go down well with the Pakistan cricket fans and they took to Twitter for expressing their agony after the two consecutive defeats in the marquee tournament. The fans went on to the extent of urging that Babar Azam should leave the captaincy if he wants to save his career.
Here’s how fans lashed out at team Pakistan:
Speaking of the match between Zimbabwe and Pakistan, Zimbabwean skipper Craig Ervine won the toss and decided to bat first. Pakistani bowling lineup, riding on the brilliant performance of young pacer Mohammad Wasim, restricted Craig Ervine’s men only on the score of 130 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
While chasing the target of 131 runs, the Pakistani batting lineup failed miserably once again. There came a moment in the match when Pakistan lost six wickets before crossing the mark of 100 runs. Thanks to a bit-fought knock from Shan Masood that took Pakistan near the target.
Eventually, Pakistan couldn’t cross the finishing line and fell two runs short to a below-par target of 131 runs and lost the match by one run.
Skipper Babar Azam also admitted in the post-match press conference that it was the collapse of the batting lineup that resulted in the team’s loss in a very crucial game that they were supposed to win at any cost.
