Indian batter, Rajat Patidar, once again, became the saviour for Bangalore in an important clash against Rajasthan on Friday at Narendra Modi Stadium. After being asked to bat first, Virat Kohli (7 off 8), once again, got out cheaply. However, in-form batter, Rajat Patidar shone brightly with the bat against Sanju Samson and Co.

He stitched an important 70-run partnership with Faf du Plessis to lead a stellar recovery. Faf du Plessis struggled in the middle to get his timing right, however, Patidar kept scoring boundaries at regular intervals and denied Rajasthan to pick more wickets in the first 10 overs.

Faf du Plessis got out in the 11th over but Patidar held firm at one end. He then added 32 runs for the third wicket with Glenn Maxwell before the latter got out in the 14th over. Maxwell (24 off 13), failed to convert the start into a big score but Rajat Patidar went on to notch his second consecutive fifty in the tournament.

He played a well-compiled knock of 58 runs in 32 balls, an innings which was laced with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Patidar got out off Ashwin at long-off while trying to hit a six in the 16th over. Patidar’s fifty meant he took the team to a good position after the end of 15 overs. However, the likes of Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed couldn't finish well and Bangalore could only manage 157 runs at the end of the first innings.
