Star-studded opening one-day game played in Harare on Wednesday saw Zimbabwe A defeat Pakistan Shaheens by 24 runs. Shaheens experienced early setbacks in reaching a target of 235 as they lost their top order in seven overs. In his first period, Tendai Chatara eliminated Saim Ayub (age 8), Imran Butt (age 6), and Muhammad Huraira (age 3).

Hussain Talat and Kamran Ghulam partnered for 48 runs as Pakistan struggled at 29/3 before Tallat was removed for 29 by Wellington Masakadza. Shortly after scoring 42, thanks to Masakadza, Ghulam also left.

Haseebullah and Mubasir Khan took control of the situation and steered Pakistan back on course after most Pakistani teams returned to the locker room. Before Masakadza had his number and took his third and last wicket, Haseebullah produced a valiant 45-run inning. As wickets dropped at the other end, Mubasir persisted in his struggle. However, his lone struggle ended when Muzarabani, an accomplished bowler, bowled him on 49.

Pakistan Shaheens were bowled out for 210 despite Mehran Mumtaz's efforts to bat a useful lower-order performance, scoring just 14 runs. Chatara, who finished with five wickets, was the best bowler. Before it, Ryan Burl played an outstanding inning to help Zimbabwe A reach a decent score. Due to a good start by Shaheens' bowlers, Zimbabwe A initially struggled at 64-5. Aamer Jamal stood out in the bowling attack, taking three vital wickets to sabotage the hosts' innings.

Jamal fired Wessly Madhevere (14), Craig Ervine (10), and Sean Williams (20), all in fast succession. Shahnawaz Dahani and Mir Hamza quickly removed the opening batters, giving the Shaheens a good start. For the sixth wicket, Burl and Clive Madande forged a strong partnership that produced 90 runs. Burl played a solid innings, scoring 69 runs off 68 balls, including two sixes and six boundaries. Madande contributed significantly with 34 runs off 55 balls, including three boundaries. Hamza took three wickets, Dahani took two, and Jamal concluded with four wickets to his credit. Mehran Mumtaz also took a wicket for Pakistan Shaheens.
