Here is how fans have reacted as the Pakistan journalist Farid Khan takes a dig at India over non-striker run-out dismissals

Pakistan are currently busy playing in the three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka against Afghanistan. After winning the first two matches, the Men in Green already sealed the series before taking on the Afghans on 26 August 2023 in Colombo. Even, they were looking to become the number one ranked side in ODIs with another win.

Ahead of that clash, a famous Pakistan journalist, Farid Khan shared a tweet where he glorified his country for not getting involved in a single mankad. As per the stats shared by Mazher Arshad, a famous statistician, India came out as the team getting involved in most non-striker run-outs (3). Hence, he tried to take a dig at India and therefore, fans slammed him brutally on social media.

Speaking of the tweet, Farid wrote: “Pakistan bowlers have been involved in 0 mankad dismissals, they have never run an opposition batter that way Bangladesh, England, Ireland, South Africa and Zimbabwe bowlers have also never been involved in mankad. India bowlers have been involved in the most mankad dismissals (3) - via Mazher Arshad #AFGvPAK.” However, Mankad is considered a legal dismissal in world cricket and currently, it is known as a non-striker run-out. 

So, fans were not happy with Farid for calling it against the spirit of the game. In the second game of this ongoing series, Fazalhaq Farroqi came up with a non-striker run out at the last over while defending 11 runs. In that manner, they took the wicket of Shadab Khan as he scored 48 runs off 35 balls. But, it all went in vain and on the last delivery, the Men in Green snatched the victory. However, the whole incident did not go well with Babar Azam and his men as they did not hold back from showing their discontent. Even, Shadab was seen shaking his head in disbelief after getting out.
