Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won their fifth IPL Title on 29 May 2023 after defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final in Ahmedabad. However, it was the last match for Ambati Rayudu who has now six IPL titles (three for MI, three for CSK). So, MS Dhoni came up with an epic gesture during the presentation ceremony.

Ambati Rayudu, and Ravindra Jadeja were seen receiving the trophy along with Dhoni. Now, in a chat with NDTV, the former CSK batter, opened up the reason behind that gesture from the CSK skipper. Listening to that, fans went crazy and came up with their views on social media platforms.

“It was really special on his part, I don't think that has ever happened.” - Ambati Rayudu on MS Dhoni

Rayudu said: “Before the ceremony, he called me and Jaddu, saying he wants us to join him in lifting the trophy. He thinks it was the right moment to do it with both of us. It was really special on his part, I don't think that has ever happened. That's the person he is, and the person that the world knows. Overall, it is his gesture.” Meanwhile, the CSK head coach, Stephen Fleming opened up about Rayudu’s retirement during the post-match press conference.

He said: "Ambati Rayudu has been an absolute legend. I rate him so highly as a batter and those three balls against Mohit Sharma today proved against one of the most in-form bowlers… to hit him for 6, 4 and 6 was sheer class. Rayudu will leave a hole, there is no doubt about it, but the game keeps moving. Doesn’t it? We expected that for him to go out like that was pretty emotional within the group and for him as well."

In the final, he played an excellent cameo of 19 runs off eight balls, including one four and two sixes. After the match, he said: “It's a fairytale finish. I couldn't have asked for more. I'm fortunate to have played in really great sides. I can smile for the rest of my life. All the hard work I've done in the last 30 years, I'm happy I got to finish on this note. I would really like to thank my family, my father. Without them this wouldn't have been possible.”
