Indian cricket Team will be touring West Indies for a 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is series starting on July 12. This will also mark the start of India’s WTC 2023-2025 cycle. However, when the Indian Cricket Board announced the squad for the Test series, they named Ajinkya Rahane the vice-captain of the Test squad.
Meanwhile, former legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar had a different and unique take on it. He believes that the Indian team management could’ve gone with players like Shubman Gill or Axar Patel. Gavaskar said that Axar is the kind of player who gets better with every match he plays.
“One is Shubman Gill and the other is Axar Patel
There is nothing wrong in having Ajinkya Rahane: Sunil Gavaskar
Gavaskar also said that someone like Ishan Kishan can also take the role if he cements his place in the team as a permanent member. However, he also said that there is nothing wrong with having Rahane as the vice-captain.
"If there are others, somebody like Ishan Kishan, once he cements his place in the team. He can come in the reckoning as well. There is nothing wrong in having him
