Team India’s inspired run in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 continued as they defeated Pakistan by eight wickets. The arch-rivals faced each other in Colombo for their final group-stage game. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. But, they could not capitalise on the opportunity as they could only reach 205 in 48 overs before being bundled out by some exceptional bowling display.

Chennai Super Kings’ find of the IPL 2023 season, Rajvardhan Hangargekar completed a five-wicket haul with an economical spell yielding him figures of 5/42 in eight overs. At the same time, Manav Suthar contributed with a three-wicket haul conceding just 36 runs in 10 overs. Riyan Parag and Nishant Sindhu contributed scalping one wicket each. Qasim Akram with 48 off 63 remained the top-scorer for Pakistan, he was followed by Sahibzada Farhan with 35 off 36. Handy contributions by Mubasir Khan (28 off 38) and Mehran Mumtaz (25* off 26) boosted the team total and spared Pakistan from embarrassment.

India A lead Group B with six points after three group-stage games

In reply, the Pakistan bowling attack could find no answers to India’s expert batting. Mubasir Khan clean-bowled Abhishek Sharma after a 50-plus opening partnership. Nikin Jose departed after a well-made fifty (53 off 64) including seven spectacular boundaries. He was scalped by Mehran Mumtaz as Mohammed Haris completed an excellent stumping. Opener Sai Sudharsan and skipper Yash Dhull remained unbeaten as India A beat Pakistan A by eight wickets.

While Dhull remained unbeaten at 21 off 19, Sai Sudharsan remained the star of the show. He reached his century and scored the winning runs in the final ball he played. In the 37th over, he scored a boundary and then smashed consecutive sixes to reach his hundred and win the game for his team. He remained unbeaten at 104 off 110, including 10 fours and three maximums. India A have won all three games in the group stages are at the top of Group B with six points and the best net run rate.
