Mohammed Siraj is currently busy playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing IPL. But, he hit the headlines as Siral reported a 'Corrupt approach' to the Indian Cricket Board's ACU from an unknown man who wanted inside news about his team after losing a lot of money in betting on IPL games.

As quoted by PTI, a punter from Andhra Pradesh contacted Mohammed Siraj for gathering some inside news about his team during the home ODI series between India and Australia. The RCB pacer reported to the Board and then, they worked closely with the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) with the help of cyber security. The accused has been arrested already.

As per the reports of the New India Express, a close source to the Board said: “He sent messages on WhatsApp to Siraj informing him about the losses he incurred on betting and wanted his help. He requested the pacer to help him out. Siraj informed us about the approach."

“The accused is not associated with any gang nor does he have past record of betting. He lost a lot of money while betting on matches and was hoping Siraj would help him to get out of the situation. We took the help of the cyber police. We also kept his phone under observation with the help of local police. Eventually, we traced him. Our officers accompanied local police when he was caught somewhere in Andhra," he further added.

Speaking about Siraj, he has taken eight wickets so far in five matches for RCB in the ongoing IPL. Before the DC clash, Mohammed Siraj said: “My bowling process has remained the same, I’ve changed my mentality. Last year I focussed a lot on what people said about me and what they wanted to say about me, so I focussed on that a lot instead of my bowling. This year I’m enjoying my bowing and staying in the present, so that’s helping me and I’m also getting wickets.”
