Rohit Sharma had a forgettable Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 according to his standards. He scored 332 runs at an average of a touch over 20 and a strike rate in the 130s. He scored two fifties in the tournament and recorded the highest score of 65. However, Rohit Sharma also created an unwanted record of most ducks at one point in the IPL 2023 with two ducks coming in the recently concluded season.

As such, IPL’s official broadcasters Star Sports made a hilarious error in their World Test Championship (WTC) final preview that said Rohit Sharma scored a lot of runs in IPL 2023. Notably, Rohit Sharma will next be in action in the coveted final between India and Australia for this cycle of the WTC 2021-23.

‘England is pretty challenging for the batters’ – Rohit Sharma

The Dukes' ball and a potent pace assault from the opposition will present Rohit and his team with a difficult challenge at The Oval, but the captain thinks he is up for the battle. Rohit spelled out his intentions for his approach to batting in England during a discussion with Harsha Bhogle on the show An Afternoon with Test Cricket Legends with opposition captain Pat Cummins, New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor, and England's Ian Bell. “I think England is pretty challenging conditions for the batters,” Rohit said.  “But as long as you're prepared to have a good grind you can have some success,” the Indian skipper added.

England has had the lowest batting average for openers in this World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, although opening the batting is never an easy chore there. In England, openers only score an average of 28.06 in the cycle's 11 games, while the top two batsmen only score two hundreds. Both of those, incidentally, were made by Indians: Rohit himself made 127 at The Oval, and KL Rahul made 129 at Lord's, where he'll pad up once more in a few days for the final.
