In what it seems to be a significant setback for star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, he has been ruled out of the remaining part of the ongoing three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The 28-year-old was fielding near the ropes in the first of the three-match T20I series against the Islanders.

In an attempt to stop a boundary, Samson ended up landing on his knee into the soil, resulting in an injury. Meanwhile, the management has named the Amrawati-based wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma as the replacement for Sanju Samson.

Although, the fans couldn’t take this news easily and they took to Twitter to express their angst on ruling out the Kerala batter from the T20I series. Subsequently, the fans also lashed out at the Indian management for ignoring the wicketkeeper-batter with an excuse for injury.

Now, India will take on Sri Lanka in the second of the three-match T20I series at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The hosts are currently leading the three-match clash by a margin of 1-0 with a close win of 2 runs in the opening match against Dasun Shanaka’s men.

Speaking of the first ODI, the Indian top order failed miserably except for the young opener Ishan Kishan who scored quick 37 runs with two boundaries and three sixes to his name. Although the duo of Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel sojourned there, in the end, to stitch a brilliant 68-run partnership for the sixth wicket to help India post a total of 162 runs for the loss of five wickets.

While defending the target, the young debutant pacer Shivam Mavi amazed everyone with his excellent and dream spell in the debut T20I match.

Coming back to Sanju Samson, he was also in the headlines for getting ignored while the Indian management picked the squad for the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The fans registered their agitation and protest against the Indian Cricket Board by all possible means.
