The Indian T20 League 2023 is just months away and the teams’ think tanks competed in a strategic war in the mini-auction on December 23, Friday and the likes of Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Jason Holder and Odean Smith were expected to bag the highest bid. While Harry Brook bagged 13.25 crore and made it to the Hyderabad franchise, Curran broke the record and made it to the Punjab franchise.
Curran was one of the hottest picks and many anticipated that the allrounder might become the costliest player in the history of the Indian T20 League. While many predicted that the allrounder might go past the 20-crore mark, Curren fell short by just INR 1.5 crore of the anticipated amount. Cameron Green, the Australian allrounder, made a cut to the Mumbai franchise for the second-highest bid in the auction, INR 17.5 crore.
As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions to Curran’s bid:

Can Sam Curran live up to the expectations?
With huge money under his belt, Curran would be under pressure to make an impact, given that fans will leave no stone unturned to slam the Three Lions allrounder if he fails to contribute with the bat and the ball as well. In other news, Ajinkya Rahane, the Indian star batter, was roped in by the Chennai franchise for the base price amount, of INR 50 lakh.
Mayank Agarwal, India’s specialist Test opener, made a cut to the Hyderabad franchise for a whopping INR 8.25 crore. Much to the stupefaction of the Gujarat fans, while the New Zealand star batter Kane Williamson was roped in for just INR 2 crore, Odean, on the other hand, made a cut for INR 50 lakhs.
Zimbabwe’s star allrounder Sikandar Raza, who made a whole lot of contribution in the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup 2022, which was won by the Jos Buttler-led England, was roped in by the Punjab franchise for his base price of INR 50 lakhs.
