The ongoing Test match between England and New Zealand has become a talking point for the netizens on just the second day. A total of 23 wickets have fallen in just four sessions of the game. The first day of the Test saw 17 wickets falling with the Kiwis getting all-out on 132, and the Three Lions only mustering 116/7 at stumps.
This was pretty much identical to the Pink Ball Test played between India and England in Ahmedabad in February last year. On the second day of the game, 17 wickets fell in the day with the then Virat Kohli-led side losing seven wickets and the then Joe Root-led side losing 10. However, the Asian side went on to win the game by 10 wickets.
At that time, former England skipper Michael Vaughan and a few other former England players had criticized the wicket. On the other hand, former skipper Kevin Pietersen had pointed out that the batters from either side got out after missing rather straight deliveries and there was nothing wrong with the pitch. The ongoing Test has seen a few similarities.
On June 2, most of the batters from either side were guilty of poking at the deliveries instead of leaving them from outside the off-stump. There were instances where batters didn't play the defensive shot with the desired intent. After the day's play, former India Test opening batter took a dig at the Indian pitch critics with a meme on Twitter.
Meanwhile, the ongoing day started with England tottering on 116/7. The team got all-out on 141 with a paltry lead of nine runs. It was expected that the Kiwis will learn from their mistakes. However, the likes of Will Young, skipper Kane Williamson, and Devon Conway have been seen getting out playing bad shots rather than bowlers bowling well.
On the other hand, a lot of Indian cricket fans have taken to the micro-blogging site and have taken on the World Cricket Governing Council on the matter.

Had it been a spinning track in India, most people might have dismissed BCCI and ICC for favoring India and destroying the soul of cricket.
Embarrassing cricket. Neither team capable of test match batting. Neither team seem to know what test match batting actually is. #ENGvsNZ #testcricket

I’m feeling nostalgic, I long for the days of the good old fashioned boring test match where not a lot happens for a significant period of time and I could continue my life alongside it #ENGvNZ #testcricket
