'Once a tapori, always a tapori!' - Fans brutally troll Hardik Pandya for his ungrateful gesture at the end of second T20I against Sri Lanka

Indian team under the captaincy of stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya locked horns with Sri Lanka in the second of the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. Both teams played this match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The hosts’ skipper won the toss and asked the Islanders to bat first.

Riding on the back of brilliant half-centuries by Kusal Mendis and skipper Dasun Shanaka, Sri Lanka posted a big total of 206 runs for the loss of six wickets. The men in blue fell 17 runs short to the target and could score only 190 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. The outstanding and fighting efforts of Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel went in vain as Sri Lankan bowling dominated in the end.

Although apart from the action of the match, Indian skipper Hardik Pandya was on the receiving end of harsh criticism and trolling on the social media platform, Twitter for his ungrateful gestures at the end of the match against Dasun Shanaka’s men. Actually, the 29-year-old started shaking hands in the dugout before the match officially ended which didn’t go down well with a section of the Indian fans. They immediately took to Twitter to lash out at Pandya for his unusual gestures in the game that is known as the ‘gentlemen’s game’.

Now, the men in blue will lock horns with Sri Lanka in the series decider of the T20I series. Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune will host the last fixture of the series ahead of the ODI series between both teams.

Coming back to Hardik Pandya, he had been under the scanner a couple of times in the past due to his gestures and behavior. One of the infamous incidents related to his captaincy belongs to the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League when he misbehaved with Mohammed Shami, his senior teammate in Gujarat.
