A total of two matches were played on Friday, December 31st in the Oman D20 league. The game between the Qurum Thunders and Azaiba XI was abandoned due to rain. Whereas on the other hand, the weather conditions also affected the encounter between Ruwi Rangers and Amerat Royals.
In the first game, Darsait Titans defeated Ghubrah Giants by six wickets. After having won the toss, Titans decided to field first at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket (Ministry Turf 1), Al Amarat. Sachin Kumar Jagra was clinical with the ball for the Titans as he clinched three wickets and conceded just 16 runs in his three overs.
For the Giants, only Shehbaz Nasar (39) and Imran Latif (53*) could provide some resistance as the team managed to post the 130 runs.
Chasing down the comparatively low total, Giants though lost early wickets, Lakpriya Ravindra Mudunkothge played a belligerent unbeaten knock of 61 runs and led the team to a win by 6 wickets.
In the other game, Ruwi Rangers defeated Amerat Royals by 17 runs.Amerat Royals asked the Ruwi Rangers to bat first at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket (Ministry Turf 1), Al Amarat. However, the decision did not go quite their way. Gustav Burger (40), Khalid Kail (40), and Naseem Khushi (41*) made handy contributions with the bat as the Rangers posted a competitive target of 178 runs for the opposition.
However, rain interrupted the play and the overs were reduced. Rangers chimed in with a clinical display with the ball as well. Kaleemullah scalped three wickets from his four overs, leaking 23 runs. He removed the opposition’s top order early on and helped the team pick up a comprehensive win.
