The Indian cricket team's tour of Bangladesh got off to a bad start as they lost the opening ODI by a slim margin of just one wicket. Despite putting up a below-par total of 186 runs, India appeared to be winning, but wicketkeeper KL Rahul dropped the crucial catch of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, which took away the game from India.

Following that, Washington Sundar appeared to have refused to go near a chance to catch. Dinesh Karthik, a seasoned India wicket-keeper batter, was perplexed by the duo's fielding errors. Karthik admitted that he didn't understand why Sundar didn't try to catch the ball in a chat as an expert on Cricbuzz.

"Obviously KL Rahul's drop towards the end and Sundar not coming, don't know why he didn't come in. I don't know if it was because of the lights, which I wouldn't know, but if he had seen the ball, he should have gone for it. That's only a question he can answer. Overall fielding effort was 50-50. Not the best day, but not the worst day either. I guess in the end, with the pressure, we left some boundaries as well," said Karthik.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, was enraged by the incident and even lost his cool as he watched Miraz's catch go afield twice in the final few overs. In the press conference following the game, KL Rahul acknowledged that India missed two opportunities to catch up.

"That's cricket right. You have to expect the unexpected. As long as cricket has been played, these kind of things keep happening. They fought very well till the end and the couple of dropped catches and that innings from Mehidy," he said.

With Bangladesh leading the three-match series 1-0, the two teams will now head into the second match on the 7th of December at the same venue. Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium will host the final match of the series on the 10th of December.
