As they haven't toured the Asian side since 1989, Australia's upcoming tour to Pakistan is all set to be a historic one. This tour is scheduled to begin on March 3, and end on April 5.
Moreover, in what can be called a promising news, none of the Australian players have opted out of the series. As a matter of fact, the chief selector George Bailey even assured that the selection will solely be based upon managing the workload of players. It is to be noted that the current bio-bubble has taken a mental toll on cricketers around the globe.
Thus, the former Aussie skipper went on to speak about the tour, and its current status. He said that both the boards are still working on some minor details. However, he did state that the security will be very thorough.
The security sounds very robust: George Bailey
"I believe the boards are still working through some of the minor details around that tour, so once that gets the formal tick of approval then we'll announce the squad post that, but we're reasonably well down the track. The two (security) briefings that I've sat in on, the security sounds very, very robust," George Bailey told the reporters.
The tour is going to consist of three Tests, which are to be then followed by the three one-dayers, as well as a one-off T20I game. The three-match red-ball series will be played in Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. As far as the limited-overs games go, all of them will be played in Lahore.
It was Mark Taylor's men who were the last Aussie team to tour Pakistan. However, this time around, with the World Test Championship points at stake, every red-ball game is going to be very important, and so will the white-ball games as it will prepare both the teams for the upcoming T20I and ODI World Cups respectively.
