India and Sri Lanka faced off against each other in the second T20I of the three-match series on January 5, Thursday and it was the Lankan Lions who came out on top post defeating the Indian team by 16 runs, although one has to agree that the Men in Blue gave one of the best fightbacks post getting restricted to 57/5 chasing a mighty target of 207 runs.

While there were many moments to take away from the game, one concern that troubled India was Arshdeep Singh bowling too many no balls, eventually costing India the match. To add more, the left-armer conceded five no balls, including a hattrick of them in his first-ever over, much to the dolefulness of the Indian fans.

Both bowling and batting - powerplay hurt us: Hardik Pandya

To add more to the match, it was Dasun Shanaka who helped the Sri Lankan team put on a massive total on the board with his 22-ball 56 runs. The Indian top-order struggled to keep going as the team were heavily dependent on Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel to take the team home.

For the unversed, while Suryakumar scored a valuable 51, Axar, on the other hand, managed to score a quickfire 31-ball 65 and helped the Indian team inch closer to the target, falling short by 17 runs in the end. Hardik Pandya, the Indian skipper, opened up on Arshdeep and said that the pacer must get back to basic practice.

“Both bowling and batting - powerplay hurt us. We made basic errors which we shouldn't do at this level. Learning should be the basics we can control. You can have a bad day but shouldn't be going away from basics. In this situation it's very difficult. In past as well he's bowled no-balls. It's not about blaming but no ball is a crime. Surya had a fantastic run at four. Anyone who comes into the team - you want to give them a role they are comfortable in (talking about Rahul at three),” Pandya was quoted as saying after the match.
