In a major decision from New Zealand Cricket (NZC), the salaries of its women players will be increased from August 1. The new contract will be paying the same fees to male and female cricket under the NZCs umbrella. The international players will get NZ$4000 for ODIs and NZ$2500 for T20Is. Talking about the domestic level, the fees will differ according to the competition but not according to gender.

Players will get NZ$800 for playing every game of Ford Trophy/Hallyburton Johnstone Shield, and NZ$575 for Super Smash. Male players currently earn NZ$10,250 playing a Test while earning NZ$1750 in Plunket Shield. Talking further about the new contract, the highest-ranked women player in the national team will earn NZ$163,246 annually, while the ninth-ranked will get NZ$148,946, and the 17th-ranked will get NZ$142,346.

On the other hand, the top-ranked women's domestic players in every major association will get $19,146, the sixth-ranked will get $18,646, and the 12th-ranked will get $18,146.

Reacting to this, the white-ferns skipper Sophie Devine said "It's great for the international and domestic women players to be recognised in the same agreement, alongside the men. It's a massive step forward and will be a huge drawcard for young women and girls."

David White, the NZC chief executive, said "I want to thank and congratulate the players and the Major Associations for their part in reaching such a significant agreement. This is the most important agreement in our sport, as it binds NZC, the Major Associations, and our players at the hip, and sets the foundation to fund, grow and develop cricket.
NZC Player Association chief executive Heath Mills said "We're thrilled to now have one agreement that includes our entire playing group. The new agreement ensures the players are well rewarded for what they bring to the game and, importantly, are supported through increased investment in personal development and well-being programmes. To complete such an important negotiation in the manner we have speaks volumes of the spirit of the partnership."
