It has been an ODI series to forget for India as they were blown away in the first ODI vs New Zealand. They made only 306-7 in their 50 overs. In the chase they had no idea what had hit them as Tom Latham scored a superb 145 off 104 balls with nineteen fours and five sixes.
Kane Willamson also anchored the chase well and made a brilliant 94 off 98 balls with seven fours and one six. They chased the target down in just 47.1 overs. In the third ODI, The Indian batting line up collapsed in a heap as they could only make 219 runs in 47.3 overs.
The batting lineup just could not get going Shikhar Dhawan scored a slow 28 off 45 balls with three fours and a six. Then other than Shreyas Iyer who scored 49 off 59 with eight fours. Washington Sundar scored a superb 51 off 64 balls with five fours and one six. This somehow helped the Indian Team scrape through to some sort of a total. Daryl Mitchell picked up 3-25 in his 7 over spell. Adam Milne also picked up 3-57 in his 10 over spell.
India have started their road to World Cup 2023 which will be held on home soil on a disappointing note. They will be looking to make some big calls ahead of the World Cup and get some young blood in. India also needs to change the way that they play ODIs. They need to get their team combination right and also get a sixth bowling option to have some more cushion in the side. They are also lacking a big hitter in the side.
India will look to try and change things and set things in order before the next World Cup. They should also look to use the conditions at home to their advantage. This will be the fourth time after 1987, 1996 and 2011. India lifted a World Cup title after 28 years in 2011 since 1983 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni the last time India hosted the show-piece event.
India folding up for a low total has not helped their cause, twitter was fully abuzz, let us take a look at the reactions here-

Fun facts in #nzvsind series

-Rishabh pant 6 match 29 runs😂#SanjuSamson #RishabhPant #BCCI#JusticeForSanjuSamson pic.twitter.com/9BHLguXvXS
One more failure for Pant, who clearly needs a break from white-ball cricket. One more opportunity denied to @IamSanjuSamson who now has to wait for the @IPL to show that he’s one of the best too-order bats in India. #IndvsNZ https://t.co/RpJKkDdp5n
