India are currently in England for an all-format series. They recently locked horns with the hosts for the rescheduled Test match, which they lost by 7 wickets. Rohit Sharma and Co., though, have made a pretty good comeback, having won the first T20I of the three-match series by 50 runs.
On India’s last tour of England in 2021, Indian wicket-keeper batter, Dinesh Karthik was commentating for Sky Sports. No one would have believed at that time that the 37-year-old batter would be part of the Indian squad for the ongoing tour.
Such has been Dinesh Karthik’s fate in the game. It all started when Bangalore bought his services for the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League. Karthik was given the role of the finisher in the team and he made complete justice to that.
He produced game-changing knocks for the franchise and helped them reach the playoffs on a second consecutive occasion. Karthik scored 330 runs in 16 matches at an outstanding strike rate and an average of 183 and 55 respectively.
His stellar performances helped him earn a call-up in the Indian T20 team. He was added for the T20I series against South Africa. He played a handy knock of 30 runs in 21 balls in the second T20I and followed by a match-defining knock of 55 runs in 27 balls in the fourth T20I of the series. His knock helped Indian level the series.
Had he not played that knock and build a partnership with Hardik Pandya, India would surely have lost another T20 series against South Africa. India team persisted with Karthik and has included him for the ongoing T20I series against England.
In the recently concluded first T20I against England, he got 7 balls to face and scored 11 runs, including 2 fours. Senior players such as Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Jadeja, etc. will be making their comeback from the second T20I onwards and it will be interesting to see if Dinesh Karthik retains his place in the team.
Nonetheless, the fans are pretty surprised and happy after witnessing Dinesh Karthik’s turn of fortunes in the last one year. All of them are hoping that he gets picked in the World Cup squad as well and represent the team in the competition. Here’s a look at some of the Tweets in this regard:

When Dinesh Karthik made his India debut at Lord's in September 2004, Alex Wharf was playing his third ODI. Today Wharf is an on-field umpire with Karthik in India's XI #ENGvIND

Is this some sort of record in consistency for him in the XI? #IndvsEng #Cricket
Always remember him being chopped and changed
He has missed only 2 games due to injury in 20 years of International + Domestic Cricket.

He has no six-pack but still hits bigger sixes than ones who flaunt their abs on social media and regularly get injured.
