While Malik has joined the Jammu and Kashmir team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), there is not much information on Kuldeep's next move yet. Malik made it to the headlines on the back of his stupendous performances in the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League. The team management believed that his pace can come in handy for the Indian batters to face pacers on Australian tracks. However, the visa issue has put his travel on hold and the player will feature in SMAT against Meghalaya.
Brigadier Anil Gupta, the administrator of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) said that they will follow on with the issue and added that they would like to deal with it match by match.
"Due to some issues, Umran’s travel to Australia has been delayed and the Indian cricket board has released him for at least the first game of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, beginning Tuesday. We will take it match-by-match. For now, he will be available for the first game," Gupta was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
India win the practice match against Western Australia
The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, arrived in Australia for the 20-20 World Cup and they played a practice match against Western Australia.
