The duo started their innings in grand fashion and began plundering boundaries right from the word go. Arunachal Pradesh bowlers had to wait till the 39th over of the innings to get their first success. The opening duo added a world record 416 runs for the first wicket.

Sudharshan was the first man to be dismissed from Tamil Nadu as he departed after scoring 154 runs off 22 balls smashing 19 fours and two sixes. Sudharshan and Jagadeesan surpassed the record of Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels of the highest partnership in List A cricket of 372 which they scored in the 2015 ODI World Cup.

After Sudharshan’s dismissal, all eyes were on Narayan Jagadeesan who was inching closer to shattering another record. After reaching his double century, he had a great chance to become the first batter to score a triple hundred in List A cricket. A few overs later, he surpassed the long-standing record of Alistair Duncan Brown of the highest individual score in List A cricket of 268 which he achieved in 2002.

The 26-year-old batter scripted history and even surpassed Rohit Sharma who has the highest score of 264 in List A cricket. Having already seen several records shattered in the day, fans were further rooting for Jagadeesan to bring up his triple century. However, the Tamil Nadu batter fell short of the milestone as he got dismissed for 277 off just 141 deliveries clobbering 25 fours and 15 sixes in his innings. Courtesy of his sensational innings, Tamil Nadu posted a massive 506 on the board which is also the highest team score in List A cricket.

This was Jagadeesan’s fifth consecutive hundred as well in List A cricket which is also a record as he surpassed Kumar Sangakkara’s record of four consecutive hundreds which he achieved in the 2015 ODI World Cup. Here’s how Twitter reacted to his record-shattering innings:
