Mumbai’s pacer, Tymal Mills has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian T20 League 2022 due to an injury. He won’t be participating for Mumbai further into the tournament. Mills The England paceman played five matches for Mumbai in the ongoing tournament and picked 6 wickets at an average of 31.67.
Taking to their social media handle, the franchise confirmed the development and also named his replacement for the rest of the tournament. South Africa’s 21-year old batter, Tristan Stubbs has replaced him in the squad. He will be part of the franchise for the rest of the tournament this season.
“Mumbai Indians have signed South African Tristan Stubbs as a replacement for Tymal Mills, who has sustained an injury and has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL,” the MI wrote in a press release.
"The 21 year old, talented middle order batsman, recently debuted for the national South African A Squad against Zimbabwe. Tristan has had a very promising domestic season and played an important role for his team in the recently concluded T20 domestic league.
“Tristan will join the MI squad for the rest of the season.”
The South African youngster has played 17 T20 matches in his career so far and has managed to score 506 runs at a strike rate of 157.14. He has three half-centuries to his name in the shortest format of the game. As per the release, the South African batter have been roped in for a price of INR 20 Lakhs.
Meanwhile, Mumbai are languishing at the bottom of the points table. In 9 matches, they have only managed to secure a solitary win this season. In their first eight games, the franchise couldn't win a single game this season. Their last match, however, resulted in a 5-wicket win.
A collective bowling effort helped the team restrict Rajasthan to 158 runs in the first innings. In reply, Mumbai chased down the score in 19.2 overs. The franchise is slated to play their next game against Gujarat on Friday at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
