Afghanistan and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman is yet to receive his visa for the second leg of IPL, which gets underway on September 19. A source close to the franchise said that things are being worked out to get the visa approval for Mujeeb but there is no clarity when the off-spinner can join the team.
SRH play their first game against Delhi Capitals in Dubai on September 22 and in all circumstances, Mujeeb won’t be available for selection in that match. Even if he was, he was not an automatic starter with his Afghan teammates, Rashid Khan and Mohammed Nabi being the first choice players. SRH didn’t enjoy favourable outings in the first leg of IPL and could only manage 1 win in their seven games
“It is still being worked on and there is no clear date as to when Mujeeb can join his franchise. His entry visa is still being worked on and there should be an update soon,” a source said
Meanwhile, leg spinner Rashid Khan and all-rounder Mohammad Nabi have arrived in UAE and are currently serving quarantine. Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi last played in the Hundred. While Rashid Khan represented Trent Rockets, Mohammad Nabi gave his services to London Spirit.
Rashid Khan recently stepped down from captaincy soon after Afghanistan announced their squad for the T20 World Cup. Rashid was disappointed that the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) didn’t consult him before selecting the national squad for the T20 World Cup. Mohammad Nabi was later named as the new skipper.
