Team India will lock horns with Australia in the first Test of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur on 9 February 2023. It will be an uphill task for the Aussies to win a Test series in India after 2004/05. Every cricket fans know the dominance of team India at home across any format.

So, an exciting series awaits both the teams and their respective fans. However, Rohit Sharma will look to win the series as that will seal a place for them in the final of the ongoing World Test Championship’s final. But, fans are wondering about the final pitch condition of Nagpur ahead of the first Test.

Reports have come out that a rank-turner is waiting for the visitors in Nagpur. Even, viral images have shown that only the centre of the Nagpur wicket was watered and rolled while the area where bowlers will target left-handers was left bone dry. It has happened on either end of the pitch. Hence, it has been claimed that this is just a deliberate ploy for team India for all the left-handed batters of Australia. So, the Australian media hub has accused team India of “straight-up pitch doctoring” the Nagpur pitch. Apart from the Nagpur pitch saga, another headache for Rohit Sharma will be setting a perfect playing XI for the series opener.

There are various reports that Suryakumar Yadav might get a debut cap while Shubman Gill can play either as an opener or a middle-order batter. Some reports also suggested that both these players can play in the final playing XI. Now, while speaking to reporters on the eve of the first match, Rohit Sharma said that he is still unsure about the decision of playing either Gill or Surya. He said: “Both have been terrific and both bring a different thing. Gill obviously has been in great form and scoring heavily in all formats. Surya has been in terrific form in the T20 and hopefully, he can bring that game into this format as well.” After such a statement, fans came up with some tweets to troll the team India skipper.
