Rohit Sharma holds the record for having the most number of ducks in the history of the Indian T20 League.

Mumbai captain, Rohit Sharma has been enduring a lean patch in the ongoing Indian T20 League. In 6 matches, he has only managed to score 114 runs at a dismal average of 19. Rohit Sharma has failed to hit the straps in the ongoing edition and his team aren’t doing well either.

With 6 losses in 6 games, Mumbai are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table. The franchise is currently playing its seventh match against Chennai. Asked to bat first, Mumbai got off to a worst possible start as they lost both the openers inside the first over of the innings.

Skipper, Rohit Sharma got out off Mukesh Sharma in only his second delivery of the match. He went back to the hut without even opening his account. Notably, this isn’t the first time when Rohit Sharma has gotten out for a duck in the Indian T20 League.

He, in fact, holds the record for having the most number of ducks in the tournament. In his Indian T20 League career so far, Rohit Sharma has gotten out on a duck on 14 occasions- the most by any player.

Rohit Sharma has been a prolific run-scorer in the cash-rich league. He is currently the third-highest run-getter with 5725 runs to his name in 220 matches at 30.61.

As many as six players are placed at second position, with regards to most number of ducks. The likes of Harbhajan Singh, Parthiv Patel, Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu, Piyush Chawla, and Mandeep Singh all have 13 ducks each to their name.

Besides, Dinesh Karthik, Manish Pandey, and Gautam Gambhir are at joint third-highest position with 12 ducks. Glenn Maxwell is at the fourth position. He has gotten out on a duck on 11 occasions.

Rashid Khan, Amit Mishra, Sunil Narine, Shikhar Dhawan, and AB de Villiers all are at fifth position, with 10 ducks each.

Meanwhile, Mumbai have managed to post a competitive score of 155 runs in the first innings against Chennai. Despite wickets falling at other end, Tilak Varma held his nerves and scored a valiant half-century. It will be interesting to see they will be perform with the ball in the second innings.
