Pakistan’s star batter, Mohammad Rizwan has come out in support of Virat Kohli amidst the former Indian captain’s prolonged lean-run with the bat. Virat Kohli has been going through a rough patch in his cricketing career. He is no longer the captain of the Indian Cricket Team in any format. He has given up on the captaincy duties in the Indian T20 League as well.
However, that hasn’t helped him make a return to form as far as his batting is concerned. Kohli hasn’t scored a hundred for more than 2 years now. He has played 105 matches across formats and hasn’t scored a single century.
In the ongoing edition of the Indian T20 League, the star cricketer has gotten out on a duck thrice in 12 matches. He has managed to score 216 runs in 5 matches at an average of 19.64 and a strike rate of 111.34.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s batter, Mohammad Rizwan has labeled Kohli as a champion player and is hopeful that the latter will come back into form soon.
“I will say that he is a champion player but at this stage, we can pray for him because he is a hard-working cricketer,” Rizwan told Cricwick.
“And tough times do come and things do get easier too. Every player has scored centuries and got out on pairs and this goes on. I can pray for him and I am hopeful that through hard work, he will control all the things,” he added.
In a video uploaded recently on Bangalore’s official website, Virat Kohli could be heard talking about how he overcomes all the criticism that he has received over the last couple of years due to his poor form with the bat.
“They can’t be in my shoes, they can’t feel what I feel, they can’t live my life, they can’t live those moments,” Kohli said of analysts attempting to write him off.
“How do you cut out the noise? You either mute the TV or don’t listen to or pay attention to what people are saying. I do both of these things.”
Bangalore are slated to play their next game against Punjab on Friday at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
