Cheteshwar Pujara has shown why he is one of the mentally toughest players in world cricket in the last few months. Earlier this year, Pujara was dropped from the Test team ahead of the team home series against Sri Lanka. The omission was justified as he had a string of failures in the preceding months. However, he didn't give up. During the Division 2 of the County Championship, the right-hander played for Sussex and scored 720 runs in five games.

For the unversed, the Rajkot-born player scored four hundreds in the competition including a double hundred. The performance has earned him his place back in the Indian Test Team for the Test match against England. In the team, he would be batting in his favorable number three position.

Meanwhile, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has lavished praise on the 34-year-old. Kaif said that a player can learn a lot from the 95-match Test veteran. Kaif acknowledged that like any other player, Pujara went back to domestic cricket and scored tons of runs to get back his place in the team. The Allahabad-born player added that this is an example for a youngster who gets dropped from the team. The cricketer turned commentator predicted that Pujara will bat at number three.

"You can learn so much from Pujara. If you get dropped, what do you have to do as a batter? You go back to County, you go back to Ranji and you score runs and runs and I mean, score tons and tons of runs. He has done that. He's an example for any young player who has been dropped and how to make a comeback. Probably you should go back to Pujara and watch what he has done in the last couple of months. He has been a fantastic player for India also. And I think he'll play No.3 for India," said Kaif in an interaction with NDTV.
