Delhi Capitals had a horrible run in the recently concluded 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they finished at the 9th position. However, the management has recently begun to take steps to improve the current coaching staff. Important individuals like head coach Ricky Ponting and director of cricket Sourav Ganguly are anticipated to stay in their current positions.
On the other hand, Shane Watson and James Hopes may be let go from the coaching staff since it will make the group smaller and make it easier for management to hear their ideas. Parth Jindal, the franchise's owner, allayed any worries about being replaced.
“Preparations for next year's IPL are underway here at Delhi Capitals, alongside Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting. We assure the fans that Kiran (Kumar Grandhi) and I are working hard to get back to where we want this franchise to be and that is right at the very top.” Jindal Tweeted.
Preparations for next years @IPL are underway here @DelhiCapitals , along side @SGanguly99 and @RickyPonting we assure the fans that Kiran and I are working hard to get back to where we want this franchise to be and that is right at the very top.

It’s more about reducing support staff to have more clarity: Pravin Amre
Prior to the 2018 IPL season, Ponting replaced current India coach Rahul Dravid by joining the Delhi team. Despite the team's poor season performance, rising players like Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, and Kagiso Rabada showed promise as they gained more playing time.
Pravin Amre, a long-time coach, is anticipated to continue with an even bigger role given his outstanding work with young players over the years. Ajit Agarkar, who has served as the team's assistant coach for the previous two years, will also soon have a larger role.
“The franchise doesn’t intend to bring any replacement coaches for Watson and Hopes. It’s more about reducing support staff to have more clarity. Amre has done well in getting this franchise a good core of youngsters since 2015. He will be given a free hand to rebuild the side. Ponting and Amre have been common factors when Capitals did well between 2019 and 2022." Amre was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.

No wonder Mr Ganguly thinks IPL is a tougher tournament than the World Cup.

Ricky Ponting was different when he was with Mumbai. Delhi's fate is so bad that even Ricky Ponting can't win them a trophy with being a coach
