The Pakistan team who will come down to India ahead of the ODI World Cup will not be given any preferential treatment.

India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Friday reiterated the fact that the Pakistan ODI side who will fly down to India for the 2023 ODI World Cup will be treated as any other side. The Pakistan Government recently gave the Green signal for Pakistan to attend the World Cup. The World Cup will be played between October 5 to November 19.

The tournament will be held entirely in India for the first time and India will be hosting the event for the fourth time. The men in green were still deliberating on sending their side to India due to strained bilateral relations between the two nations over the years. Pakistan and India largely play each other at World events.

The last time India and Pakistan played each other was in a limited over series in 2012. "We have seen these reports regarding the Pakistan cricket team's participation in the upcoming  World Cup to be hosted by India. Pakistan cricket team will be treated just like the cricket team of any other country participating in the  World Cup."

In that series which was played in India, the two T20Is were squared 1-1 and when it came to the ODIs Pakistan won the series 2-1. Pakistan and India take on each other on October 14 in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The World Cup will be played in ten venues. A lot of the venues that will host the World Cup games are currently undergoing renovation.

The Pakistan Team have retained their entire coaching crew ahead of Asia Cup and the World Cup. The Pakistan Cricket Board recently underwent a change in management with Zaka Ashraf taking over as chairman from Najam Sethi. This means that Mickey Arthur and Grant Bradburn will retain their positions up until the end of the World Cup.
