Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has once again shown why he is one of the modern-day greats. In the ongoing Test against Sri Lanka, he scored another Test hundred at a time when his team was in deep trouble. After bowling out the hosts for 222, his team ended Day One on 24/2. At the start of the ongoing day, the team lost the wicket of Azhar Ali to Prabhat Jayasuriya.
The visitors kept losing the wickets and were tottering at 112/8 at one stage. It looked like the team would be trailing by more than 100 runs after the first innings. However, skipper Azam ensured that the team reaches close to the Lankan total. The right-hander got enough support from Hasan Ali and Naseem Shah. The duo kept one end on hold with Babar batting at the other end.
With Ali, the Lahore-based player stitched a partnership of 36 runs for the ninth wicket. On the other hand, he stitched a 70-run partnership with Shah, who scored five runs, but more importantly, he batted for 52 balls. In the meantime, the former Pakistan U19 player got to his hundred. He scored 119 runs and took the team to 218, four runs behind the Lions' total.
The Pakistan skipper across formats was the last man to fall as he was trapped lbw by Maheesh Theekshana. There is no doubt about the fact that his hundred has kept the team in the hunt. Historically, the wicket at Galle becomes impossible to bat on in the fourth innings. In 2015, India couldn't chase the target of 170-odd runs. Keeping these things in mind, the world number six team has done well enough. However, they would need to pick wickets and restrict the hosts on a low total.
Currently, Dimuth Karnuratne's men have scored 36/1, leading the game by 40 runs at stumps. Meanwhile, the netizens have praised Babar Azam for his knock under severe pressure. The fans are in awe of the man in question.

Never forget that after 11 tests Babar was averaging 23. Every ‘analyst’ and ‘expert’ wanted him dropped. It was @Mickeyarthurcr1 who backed him & kept giving him opportunities. Any other coach would have dropped him. Pakistan need another foreign coach ASAP✅ #PAKvsSL

A masterclass by @babarazam258 at Galle. The construction of the innings can be a case study indeed. His calm demeanor on a spiteful pitch makes for a spectacle in batsmanship. Like @imVkohli not long ago and Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar a bit long ago..
