The Indian cricketing circuit is filled up with a lot of discussions and deliberations after the announcement of team India for the first two Tests against Australia. One of the most shocking decisions for the fans is the inclusion of the young wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan in the template of the longest format of the game.
Notably, Ishan Kishan smashed the fastest double ton in the ODI cricket against Bangladesh in the Chattogram ODI last month in December 2022. But it went very strange with the fans as the Indian Cricket Board excluded him from the playing XI of the first two ODIs of the three-match series against Sri Lanka even after a double century in the same format.
Subsequently, the management didn’t stop doing strange decisions here only and they took the extra mile to pick Ishan for the Test squad of India. It is because the 24-year-old has experience in only 10 red-ball fixtures in First-Class cricket.
The fans couldn’t take this decision from the selectors very easily and lashed out at the selection committee and Indian Cricket Board.
Here’s how fans reacted:

Pure injustice is happening in Indian cricket. How can you select Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan, on the basis of t20 performance, when there have been good performance in Ranji Trophy by Upendra Yadav, Sarfaraz Khan and Akshay Wadekar. People seperate formats. #Sky#Ishan

Two decades ago a legend said that Selectors are a bunch of Jokers...after 2 decades nothing has changed...You were absolutely correct @JimAmarnath ...nothing has changed#bcci #TeamIndia #INDvsAUS #sarfarazkhan #SuryakumarYadav #IshanKishan

27, 15, 26, 3, 8, 11, 36, 10, 37, 2
Still no one bats an eye, even BCCI and Team Management continue to back him. Whereas many other players don't get such privilege.#ishankishan #INDvsSL#BCCIselectioncommittee

Why #IshanKishan is selected and why not #SarfarazKhan?
— KDas (@Kdas95) January 14, 2023
If we compare between these two Sarfaraz Khan has better average than Ishan in red ball cricket. So i still believe that #sarfarazkhan should have given a chance before #IshanKishan .@BCCI
You become knowledgeable about cricket, why haven't you asked a single question on Sarfaraz's performance, it is not mentioned in any of your shows, why was Surya's place in the Test team made before Sarfaraz pic.twitter.com/dIVHlc80Ug

And that (Kishan's keeping) will ensure we will lose Border Gavaskar Trophy at least 3-0 or 3-1. Alongwith Rahul, Pujara & Kohli failing miserably vs spin.

Replace Rishabh pant ,,in test cricket.. seriously 🙄🤡

This is exactly what's wrong with Indian cricket. Bharat has been the 2nd keeper for a long time now and Ishan will come from nowhere to replace him. Sarfaraz has been piling up runs and Surya comes in on the basis of T20 runs, not even ODI runs.

Speaking of a few other disappointments for the Indian camp, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the entire series against New Zealand and the first Tests against Australia.
Whereas, another decision in the team selection that didn’t go down well with the Indian cricket fans was the inclusion of World number one T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav in the Test team.
On the contrary, the selectors once again ignored the talented and skillful Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan who has smashed 3380 runs in only 52 innings of 36 First-Class appearances. The 25-year-old owns an unbelievable average of 80.47 with 12 First-Class centuries and nine half-centuries with the highest individual score of unbeaten 301 runs.
The squad of Team India for the first two Tests against Australia:
Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul (VC), Shubman Gill, C Pujara, V Kohli, S Iyer, KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), R Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, and Suryakumar Yadav.
