The action returned on Friday in the Women's T20 League as Bangalore took on UP in the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Bangalore, who have struggled in the league so far despite having a star-studded squad, failed to impress yet again as they were bowled out inside 20 overs for a total of 138.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Bangalore lost their skipper Smriti Mandhana in the fourth over. She could only score four runs off six deliveries. Mandhana's form has been a continued problem; while she was getting decent starts in the preceding games, this time, she was downright bad in her performance with the bat.

Sophie Ecclestone and Alyssa Healy were the MVPs for UP

However, her co-opener Sophie Devine and top order batter Ellyse Perry brought the innings back on track. But, barring these two, no other Bangalore batter could get going as they were bundled out for 138 inside 20 overs. For UP, Sophie Ecclestone shined again, picking four in her 3.3 overs, conceding just 13 runs. Deepti Sharma picked up three, and Rajeshwari Gayakwad had one scalp in the game. All of it, coupled with two run-outs, constituted UP's great performance on the field.

In reply, UP cruised towards the total with skipper Alyssa Healy leading from the front. She remained unbeaten on 95 off 47 deliveries, and her opening partner Devika Vaidya complimented her with 36 off 31 deliveries. With the win, UP moves to the third spot on the points table, level on points with Delhi. However, a worse net run rate keeps them in the third spot. On the other hand, Bangalore are at the bottom of the table and has yet to open their account in the league's inaugural season.

Next, in the inaugural edition of the Women's T20 League, Gujarat will face off against Delhi. While Gujarat have just won one of their three games in the league so far, Delhi boasts a slightly better record. They have won two of their three games; the lone loss came at the hands of the unbeaten Mumbai team led by India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.

Here's how fans reacted to an all-round performance by UP:
