India has taken a 144 run lead at the end of Day 2 in the ongoing India vs Australia 1st Test match of Border Gavaskar Trophy.

The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia saw a dominant performance from India on Day 1, as the visitors managed to clean up the host's batting lineup for just 177 runs. This set the tone for India's innings, which began with Rohit Sharma and Nightwatchman Ravichandran Ashwin at the crease. Although Ashwin was able to make 23 runs off 62 deliveries, he was eventually dismissed, bringing in Cheteshwar Pujara to the crease.

Pujara, who is known for his solid defense and patient approach, was unable to make a significant contribution to the team's score, managing just 7 runs before being dismissed. Virat Kohli, India's captain and one of the world's best batsmen, also failed to make a significant impact, scoring only 12 runs off 26 deliveries.

However, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel stepped up to the challenge, with Jadeja currently playing at 66 off 170 deliveries, hitting 9 fours so far. Patel, on the other hand, is playing at 52 off 102 deliveries, with 8 fours to his name. The duo has put on a crucial partnership for India, taking the team's score to 321/7 and a lead of 144 runs.
