Despite all the issues with respect to the COVID-19 cases in their camp, Delhi didn't let that distract them as they comprehensively beat Punjab by nine wickets. In what was expected to be a cracker of a contest, the game on Wednesday turned out to be a rather one-sided affair. This is the Rishabh Pant-led side's third win in six games. As for Punjab, this is their fourth loss in seven games.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Delhi bowlers were simply too good for the Punjab batters. They kept on picking wickets at regular intervals. It all started when Punjab's openers were dismissed within a space of six balls.
As the Agarwal-led side heavily rely on their openers, their failures meant that the team was going to struggle. Their decision to drop the all-rounder Odean Smith and pick a specialist pacer in the form of Nathan Ellis didn't help the cause either. They scored 47-3 in the first six overs.
Jonny Bairstow's bad form continues as he had to depart for an eight-ball nine. As for Liam Livingstone, the law of averages had to catch up to him sooner or later. It caught him on Wednesday as he too had to prematurely depart to the pavilion. None of the other batters got to a big score either.
Thus, the Punjab-based franchise were bundled for 115. As far as Delhi's bowlers are concerned, Khaleel Ahmed was at his best as he took two wickets, and only gave 24 runs in his full quota of four overs. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel were sensational as well. Hence, Delhi's batters didn't have to go out of their comfort zone, and chased the total rather comfortably.
David Warner continued his good form as he scored his third consecutive half-century of this edition. Prithvi Shaw scored a quickfire 41 from just 20 balls before being dismissed in the seventh over of the second innings. However, the damage was already done. At the end, Delhi chased the total with 57 balls to spare. It is to be noted that this is Delhi's biggest victory in the history of the edition.

Mad respect for all the Punjab fans out here.. Its been a difficult journey for us personally all these years along with the team..Sticking to a losing inconsistent team takes a lot out of you, and challenges every ounce of your commitment as a fan..#ਸਾਡਾਪੰਜਾਬ

Imagine sitting in a room for 4 days, finding out that a team mate you had dinner with has Covid today, imagine being told that you still have to go and play the biggest tournament in the world and then imagine playing and having the opposition at 92 for 8 this is @DelhiCapitals

PBKS were hurt most not by Odean Smith's bad form but by Harpreet Brar's.

If Brar was in good form and nailed down that number 7 spot, they would have accomodated Rajapaksa in middle order and yet had a decent number 7 and also 5 bowlers.
