Rajasthan are looking nearly unstoppable at the moment. They managed to beat Delhi by 15 runs in the 34th match of the Indian T20 league 2022. It was once again Jos Buttler who went on a rampage.
Saying that he is having a superb season so far would be an understatement to say the least. During the game against the Delhi-based franchise, he got to his third century of the 2022 edition. He showed no mercy on the opposition bowlers. After winning the toss, the Rishabh Pant-led side decided to bowl first.
Little did they know that they were going to witness a Buttler masterclass. The Rajasthan opener scored 116 runs in just 65 balls. He was well supposed by Devdutt Padikkal, who scored a 35-ball 54. After his dismissal, it was Rajasthan's skipper Sanju Samson who entertained the fans. He took just 19 balls to score 46 runs.
At the end, the Rajasthan-based franchise went on to score 222-2. They broke their own record, as they went on to score the highest score of this season. Thus, it was never going to be easy for the Delhi batters. However, they started the second innings aggressively.
After hitting a few boundaries, David Warner was dismissed in the fifth over by Prasidh Krishna. Delhi then kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Although Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant did score 44 and 37 respectively, it was never going to be enough.
The duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal were effective in the middle overs once again. One of the major talking points of the game was Delhi's decision to send Rovman Powell at eight. Taking his reputation of being a hard-hitter into account, he was expected to bat somewhere in the middle-order.
Although Powell did hit a few lusty blows towards the end, even he couldn't win the game. At the end, Delhi fell short of their target by 15 runs. The last over of the game saw a lot of drama as a controversial call saw Pant asking his batters to return to the pavilion. According to the Delhi camp, the third ball of the 20th over was a no-ball. However, the umpire felt otherwise. Nevertheless, this is Delhi's fourth loss in seven games. As for Rajasthan, this is their fifth win in seven games of this edition. This enabled them to become the third team to get to 10 points in the 2022 edition.
Here are some of the Tweets from today's game:
Seeing everyone struggle to dismiss Buttler at the strikers end, I think we all now understand why Ashwin chose to dismiss him at the non strikers end 😅 #DCvRR #IPL2022

A team featuring Jos, Sanju, Chahal and Hetmyr with this brand of cricket, is making me root for @rajasthanroyals unapologetically!

The problem was the umpires didn't even bother to check

Pant was absolutely wrong there... Those gestures were surely not in the right spirit of the game.. You win or lose but those gestures of asking the players to come back was absolutely dreadful and awful... Heat of the moment got the better of the youngster.. #IPL2022 #RRvDC
