Former legendary Indian captain and current President of the Indian cricket board, Sourav Ganguly is all set to come back in action on the cricket field since his retirement from the game. He will feature in the second season of the Legends League Cricket. He went on to say on Instagram that he featured in only charity fund-raising games. It will be played to mark 75 years of the Independence of India.
Legends League Cricket has confirmed the name of 53 participating players for the league. This list has the name of some former greats of the game including the likes of Eoin Morgan, Virender Sehwag, Muthiah Muralidaran, Misbah-ul-Haw, Jonty Rhodes, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Shane Watson, Ross Taylor, and former veteran South African pacer Dale Steyn.
Three participating teams will play this tournament from the 17th of September to the 8th of October. Five cities in India will host this tournament. It will include the city of Kolkata alongside Lucknow, Delhi, Jodhpur, Cuttack, and Rajkot.
LLC finally confirmed the availability of Sourav Ganguly for the tournament
The sources have learned that Pakistani players will also take part in the league just after the necessary approvals from the respective governments and the administration. LLC organized the first season of the tournament in the month of January earlier this year.
Three teams participated in the first season namely India Maharajas, World Giants, and Asia Lion. These teams played Seven matches in the tournament. Former Indian batter Mohammed Kaif was the captain of India Maharajas, whereas World champion skipper Darren Sammy led World Giants.
Former skipper of Pakistan, Misbah-ul-Haq was the captain of Asia Lions. The Legends Cricket League has named Indian women pacer Jhulan Goswami the ambassador of the league alongside famous Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachhan. Former Indian all-rounder Ravi Shastri is the commissioner of the league.
One of the legendary pacers of Pakistan, Wasim Akram is the only member of the apex councils as per the confirmations from the website of the league.
