Jaffna Kings will be up against Galle Gladiators in match 19 of the Lanka Premier League (LPL). The Kings have already secured a place top of the table finish after six back to back wins. Gladiators are currently placed second on the points table with seven points. They will look to consolidate that position as Dambulla Giants and Colombo Stars are breathing down their neck.
The task won’t be easy as the Kings have looked mighty impressive in the LPL so far. They are coming off a resounding 102 run victory over Colombo Stars. The batting and bowling has clicked in unison, with the likes of Thisara Perera, Shoaib Malik, and Tom Kohler-Cadmore chipping in with vital contributions in each of those victories. In bowling, the spin twins, Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga have been very impressive.
Meanwhile, the Gladiators are also coming off a close nine runs victory over Giants. The win was much-needed considering they had lost two consecutive games against the Warriors and Stars. Samit Patel has been exceptional for the Gladiators, contributing with both bat and ball. Kusal Mendis and skipper Bhanuka Rajapaksa have also looked good with the bat. The Gladiators are the only team who have beaten the Kings in this year’s edition.
Pitch Report
The R Premadasa pitch in Colombo has been slightly on the slower side. Runs are not easy to score against the spinners. However, short boundaries work to the batters' advantage.
