The Australians made the most of the conditions and the high-quality swing and seam bowling from Pat Cummins and Scott Boland brought both of them a wicket each. Cummins dismissed Ben Duckett in the 9th over of the match while Boland sent Crawley back to the pavilion in the very next over and England’s score came down to just 2 for 27. However, the rain interrupted the play.

But, there is still a lot of batting strength in the English lineup and surely they will look to achieve a big total as Joe Root is in red-hot form with a brilliant century in the first innings, He will be accompanied by Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, and Jonny Bairstow. However, Stokes could only score 1 run in the first innings. But Brook and Bairstow both are known for their aggressive approach and that could be a big threat for the Australian team.

In regards to the third day, the Kangaroos began the game on 311/5 but lost both Usman Khwaja and Alex Carey before three additional wickets fell quickly. As a result, Australia finished the day on 386 and fell seven runs short of the objective. Together with Carey, Khawaja put together a crucial 118-run sixth-wicket partnership.

Khawaja batted with great poise before being bowled out, slamming the English bowlers all over the park and scoring his first century in England. English captain Stokes applied pressure by forming an offensive field with six catchers. Khawaja took the bait despite being aware of the attacking field and raced down the field before Robinson's nearly immaculate yorker shook his stumps.
