The one-off Ashes Test began on 22 June 2023 between England Women and Australia Women at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Speaking of the match, the Aussie skipper, Alyssa Healy won the toss and opted to bat first. While batting first, they got bundled out for 473 runs in 124.2 overs in their first innings.

Annabel Sutherland was the highest scorer with 137* runs off 184 balls, including 16 fours and one six. Along with her, Ellyse Perry scored 99 runs off 153 balls, including 15 fours while Tahlia McGrath scored 61 runs off 83 balls, including eight fours. For England, Sophie Ecclestone took five wickets for 129 runs in 46.2 overs. 

Australia Women defeated England Women by 89 runs

Along with her, both Lauren Filer and Lauren Bell took two wickets each while Kate Cross grabbed one wicket. In reply, England got bundled out for 463 runs in 121.2 overs in their first innings. Thus, Australia managed a lead of 10 runs going to bat in the second innings. England’s Tammy Beaumont scored 208 runs off 331 balls, including 27 boundaries.

Apart from her, skipper Heather Knight scored 57 runs off 91 balls, including nine fours while Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 78 runs off 111 balls, including 12 fours. For the Aussies, Ashleigh Gardner took four wickets while Tahlia McGrath grabbed three wickets. Darcie Brown, Perry, and Sutherland grabbed one wicket each. Then, in the second innings, the Aussies got bundled out for 257 runs in 78.5 overs and set a target of 268 runs for the home side.

Beth Mooney scored 85 runs off 168 balls, including 10 fours while Healy scored 50 runs off 62 balls, including six fours. For England, Ecclestone again picked up five wickets while both Kate Cross and Lauren Filer took two wickets each. Lauren Bell took one wicket. But, in reply, England Women were in deep trouble when day four got finished.

On day five, England needed 152 runs with five wickets in hand. But, in the first session of day five only, the England batters collapsed and got bundled out for 178 runs in 49 overs. Thus, Australia Women won the game by 89 runs. For Australia, Gardner was the star as she picked up eight wickets while both McGrath and Kim Garth took one wicket each. For England, only Danny Wyatt scored 54 runs off 88 balls, including five fours. Ashleigh Gardner won the Player of the Match award for her all-round performance.
