In the last Super Four game of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, India and Bangladesh locked horns. As the finalists of the tournament (India and Sri Lanka) already decided, this was a dead rubber. Meanwhile, in this game, the former champions won the toss and elected to bowl first. They made wholesome changes for the game to test their bench strength.
Meanwhile, the Men In Blue had a great start as they took four wickets for 59 runs. At this stage, the likes of Shardul Thakur took two wickets while Mohammed Shami (Playing his first game of the tournament) and Axar Patel took one each. However, the team was guilty of dropping two catches before this. both off Mehidy Hasan Miraj on Thakur's bowling.
Meanwhile, at 59/4, the likes of Shakib Al Hasan and Towhid Hridoy put together 101 runs for the fifth wicket. While the former scored 80 runs, Hridoy amassed 54 runs. However, after this partnership was broken with the wicket of Hridoy, the team was reduced to 193/7. It looked like the Men in Blue would bowl out the opposition, the Bangladesh tailenders gave them a Deja Vu to what happened in December last year.
The likes of Nasum Ahmad (44), Mahedi Hasan (29), and Hasan Sakib (14*) helped the team reach a fighting total of 265/8. For India, Thakur took three wickets, Shami took two while Prasidh Krishna, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja took one each.
Bangladesh ends their Asia Cup 2023 on a high
In reply, the seven-time winners had a poor start as they lost two wickets for 17 runs. Skipper Rohit Sharma bagged a silver duck while Tilal Varma (5) didn't have the best of debuts. At this stage, the likes of Shubhman Gill and KL Rahul put together 57 runs with the latter scoring slowly. However, after Rahul's rare failure in the tournament, Ishan Kishan (5) suffered the same.
Suryakumar Yadav (26) had a decent start but failed to score big. However, Gill's maiden Asia Cup hundred kept the team in the game. After his dismissal, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur kept the team in the game with Ravindra Jadeja failing with the bat once again. However, after the wickets of Patel and Thakur in the penultimate over, the writing was on the wall for India. They lost the game by six runs.

No one can step into his role. The steadfastness that the number 18 jersey brings to the number 3 position is unparalleled and cannot be substituted. #INDvBAN pic.twitter.com/R3IAHYuhMb
