On 11 April 2023, Delhi Capitals (DC) took on Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing IPL. Coming to this clash, both teams failed to win a single game in the tournament. Hence, both teams were looking to register their first win of the tournament. So, home fans were hoping for a better performance from DC players like David Warner and Axar Patel.

Axar Patel came to this tournament with great form with both the bat and the ball. Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first. David Warner scored runs in all three matches. But, his strike rate has been an issue as fans have criticised him heavily. So, all eyes were on him when he came out to open the innings with Prithvi Shaw.   

Axar Patel scored 54 runs off 25 balls against MI

Shaw looked good as he hit three fours. But, he got out on 15 runs off 10 balls. Then, Manish Pandey came and scored 26 runs off 18 balls, including five fours. After that, debutante Yash Dhull came. But, he managed only two runs off four balls. Rovman Powell and Lalit Yadav also failed cheaply. Then, Axar Patel came out to bat. After that, he put up a solid partnership of 67 runs. His counter-attacking approach helped to shift the momentum in favour of DC to some extent.

Axar Patel scored 54 runs off 25 balls, including four fours and five sixes. Apart from him, David Warner scored 51 runs off 47 balls. But, his strike rate was very poor and finally, DC got bundled out for 172 runs in 19.4 overs. For MI, both Piyush Chawla and Jason Behrendorff took three wickets each. Along with them, Hrithik Shokeen and Riley Meredith grabbed one and two wickets respectively. After this performance, Axar Patel has now scored 108 runs in four innings in IPL 2023. Seeing such a good performance with the bat, fans were happy and shared their views on social media.
