Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf picked Virat Kohli as his dream wicket while in conversation with Geo TV. This is the second time in days that any of his statements has made it to the headlines. The duo was involved in a famous six that Kohli scored off Rauf’s bowling in the T20 World Cup. The two may again face off in the upcoming World Cup in India. Notably, India and Pakistan are set to lock horns in the marquee tournament on October 15 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Talking of the six, Rauf earlier stated, "Of course, it hurt when that went for a six. I didn't say anything but it hurt me personally. I thought something wrong had happened. Anyone who knows cricket knows what sort of a player he is. He has played that shot now; I don't think he can do that again. Such shots are quite rare, you can't hit them again and again. His timing was perfect, and it went for a six.”
Haris Rauf had to face fire from Mohammad Amir over a controversial statement
Talking about his first headliner statement, Haris Rauf was asked who he thinks is a better bowler between Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir. To which Rauf replied, "Wahab Riaz is better than Mohammad Amir." Amir was quick to react to Rauf’s statement, breathing fire.
"I take this thing positively because everyone has their own personal favorite, just like my favorite bowler is Wasim Akram. No matter how many great left-arm bowlers come, Wasim Akram will always be my favorite. That doesn't mean I dislike other bowlers. Wahab might be Haris's personal favorite, and I think if his opinion matters, then there's nothing wrong with it," Amir said.
In comparison to Riaz, who played in 27 Tests, 91 ODIs, and 36 T20Is from 2008 to 2020 and took 237 wickets overall, Amir participated in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is between 2009 and 2020. Following his involvement in spot-fixing in 2011, Amir also served a five-year suspension before coming back to work in 2016.
