On 21 May 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) locked horns with Gujarat Titans (GT) in the ongoing IPL. After Mumbai Indians’ victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), it was a must-win game for RCB in front of the home crowd. However, Virat Kohli was coming off after a scintillating century against SRH in Hyderabad.
It was his sixth IPL ton and thus, he became the joint-most centurion in the history of IPL with Chris Gayle. So, all eyes were on him again when RCB took on GT. Speaking of the match, Hardik Pandya won the toss and asked RCB to bat first. For the home side, Faf du Plessis and Kohli came out to bat.
Virat Kohli has now seven IPL centuries to his name
Both of them gave a blistering start to the team as RCB scored 67 runs for one wicket in 7.1 overs. After that, Kohli continued to play his shots according to match situations. Finally, he managed to notch up his second consecutive ton this season. He smashed 101* runs off 61 balls, including 13 fours and one six. Thus, RCB scored 197 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. Now, he has scored the most number of centuries (7) in the history of IPL.
After that knock, Virat Kohli said: "A lot of people feel my T20 cricket is declining, but I don't feel like that at all. I feel I am playing my best again, enjoying myself, hitting gaps and big ones at the end. You have to rise to the occasion when the situation demands, and I take a lot of pride in doing, and I've been doing it a while now. I feel really good in my game right now. There's enough in this pitch for our bowlers to make a dent. If we can cut down the boundaries and the twos, it's a difficult chase. Ravi's chat in the changing room was to stay in the present
Here is how fans have reacted to the knock from Kohli against GT:
